Bracket Check
bottom bracket check?
running an american to euro adapter with campagnolo mirage crank-arms on my aluminum schwinn 26″ cruiser–what size bottom bracket do i need to make this work? 68mm or 70mm x 111 or 115.5 or some other size that i dont know about thanks
i know that running campagnolo arms does not require using a campagnolo bottom bracket thats why companies make “campagnolo compatable” bottom brackets and partial answers arent truly helpful — i would like to know real working dimensions of the bracket that would fit and get my bike back on the road —–thanks again
Two things you need to know:
1. Use a ruler or caliper to measure the width of the bottom bracket shell. And, yes, the other person was correct: 70mm is Italian and is mostly common on older Italian frames. US makes never featured it.
2. The BB spindle length is determined by the crankset used and the chainline desired. A Mirage triple crank will require a different crankset than a Mirage double. Specs can be easily found online.
